This is why you should re pot at least every three years with orchids

I was asked to repot a Stanhopea recently that had not been repotted in maybe 10-12 years.

The issue is ,that the compost is broken down be microorganisms and worms and turns back to humus.

Humus ,which is pure organic matter is very sticky and dense and water holding.
Exactly what you don want!!
Every single root was dead and all new roots had perished trying to enter the sticky wet mess.
Orchid roots need air to survive!!!
