Lisa and I visit the cairns Botanic gardens July 201
Doing our best to get away from Melbourne's Miserable winter weather Lisa and I decided to once again look for properties suited for a Nursery up north.
WE had always wanted to visit Cape Oasis Nursery so took a break to see.
Not many realise that the Flecker Botanic gardens are only 4 minutes from cairns Airport. In fact the jets taking off can give you a bit of a fright if you forget where you are .
There were plenty of orchids in full glorious bloom in all the genera you would expect.
The all new open air conservatory is now completed and truly a great tourist attraction. It even has grown from caterpillar butterflies flying around inside the enclosure.
There were also an excellent selection of nepenthes and other carniverous plants
There are two cafe here One large and moden at the eastern (airport end) and another more tropical rustic one within the gardens. For hungrier patrons we suggest the newer one as older a bit female orientated in the menu
Many beautiful lush tropical orchids were on display on loan from ORCHIDS NORTH
Even the carpark is a tropical paradise!
