It seems that dividing Dendrobium speciosums in Febuary is just fine and dandy!

Im always a stickler for routine and habitual in the way I repot and divide

I have always repoted and divided my speciosums in October as the first growth of the season starts to form its toothbrush of new roots.

THis year we repotted non stop from August until mid march. We always pot the smallest plants first up to the largest.

The speciosums had not been divided for 3 years so they could only be slotted in for febuary through march

It took 7 of us  6 weeks to complete, but all done and dusted 4 weeks ago.

Some where potted into the slots cut in the long dead Cyatha tree fern pots we had made

The results are clear!    So Febuary dividing and repotting is fine!

Hi after reading this blog thought I would let you know , I divided and repotted my speciosums for the same period ( only have weekends dam it ) and those done in the end of Feb and March are miles ahead ( roots gong everywhere and new canes as well ) than those in October last year and have not suffered heat stress than those done in summer . And by the way I live in the Southern Tablelands North Queensland .
